“Airport paging Kim Jung Il….”

Posted by Chester in Uncategorized

I HATE LAX so much!  urgh! Slow lines, annoying security staff, no proper shopping, no proper food, terminals far away from each other, i can go on for all day.  Anyway, so I was at LAX McDonalds after battling through the 2 hour luggage bomb check line, and some announcement came in Korean “blah blah blah Kim Jung Il, Kim Jung Il”.   May be that’s Bush’s new strategy to catch the guy, page him at LAX Bradley International Terminal cuz it seems like that’s where all the Asians are!  And I wonder if Mr Kim ever made it to through security and get on the plane …..

No more internet on the plane :(

Posted by Chester in Uncategorized

I’m very sad to hear this news. Boeing is stopping its Connexion service, which offers highspeed internet service (well not cable modem speed, but not it wasn’t bad either) on selected trans-continental flights (http://www.boeing.com/news/releases/2006/q3/060817a_nr.html).  I’ve used it a number of times, and it’s just really really cool to stay in touch while flying across the Pacific, not to mention it’s a great time killer.  I just cannot believe that this business didn’t survive while the stupid phone in the plane that costs 10 bucks a minute still exists!   I could just get the internet, which is 20 bucks for the entire flight, turn on my bluetooth headset, launch Skype and I can talk for no extra charge until the batteries die or until the person sitting next to me punch me in the face.  sigh……

The new Bergkamp is …… Gallas?

Posted by Chester in football

I was watching highlights of ManU vs Arsenal and saw Gallas wearing #10!!  It’s just a strange sight and I couldn’t understand why either, since #3 is available too.  Too bad Wenger is not actually playing Gallas up front too.  Anyway, at least Ferguson hasn’t given out the #10 shirt to the new goal keeper (who is actually pretty good btw) just to spite Van Nistelrooy …… yet.

Did I really say I enjoyed my flight to Tokyo?

Posted by Chester in Uncategorized

I think I did!  I had a nice journey to Tokyo this time, flying Singapore Airlines.  Armed with 80 on demand movies, and another 100 or so tv shows, I saw X-Men 3, then a HK movie.  Then napped for a few hours, and woke up to watch Da Vinci Code, Over the Hedge, an episode of The Office.  The food was great, had fish for dinner, and stir fried udon for lunch, and a few cocktail drinks in between.  And the flight attendents were very friendly, always similing, and very nice to look at :)   They definitely earned their 5 stars!

Not a great day….

Posted by Chester in me, myself and i

My flight is delayed for 2 hours, and they wouldn’t let me switch to the earlier ANA flight out to Tokyo.  Fine.  So I’m stuck at the Red Carpet Lounge at LAX, which is not too bad, right?  Well not quite.  The guy sitting at the desk behind me keeps coughing and farting!!  I’m getting outta here…..

New pictures in gallery

Posted by Chester in me, myself and i

I haven’t updated my gallery for a while so I spent some time to upload new pics from the last few months.  I added some beautiful pics from Tokyo during the cherry blossom season, some of the good food from there.  Also added are recent pics from my stay in Hong Kong.  Enjoy!!

What comes around goes around…

So now Cristiano Ronaldo is crying about the referee being unfair and stuff (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=373382&cc=4716).  Aww.  Well, think twice next time before you get someone else sent off on purpose and then wink to your coach, because karma is a bitch, asshole!!

A feeling of emptiness…..

Posted by Chester in football

First to suffer through England’s truly gut wrenching defeat, then watch Brazil to go after putting in a really flat and uninspired performance.  It’s been a horrible horrible evening, and i just feel so drained and empty right now both emotionally and physically (it is 5 am in hong kong now…)  It’ll take a bit of time to let it all sink in.  With the 2 teams that I care about gone, this World Cup is pretty much done for me.  And I guess with the World Cup, history repeats itself much more often than I’d like it to (Europeans winning all but one World Cup hosted in Europe, England losing every single penalty shootout in the World Cup, England player getting sent off for no good reason).

sigh. i need some sleep.

Quote from ESPN2 commentators during Argentina vs Ivory Coast

Posted by Chester in Uncategorized

After Drogba made it 2-1, Mr Commentator had the following words of wisdom:

“The game that has been controlled by Argentina, has now turned 360 degrees”

mmmmm is that so …..

And to the guy commentating England vs Paraguay, please STOP using any “bottom of the 9th inning in game 7 of the world series” analogies!!  The sports ticker with baseball scores in the bottom of the screen is annoying enough!!

World Cup 2006 Tracker Excel Sheet

Posted by Chester in football

Microsoft should put this little Excel sheet in as part of the critical patch for Windows Update!! :) You enter the score and it calculates the points plus update the group ranking etc. Now, if it can also tell me when is it showing on tv and what channel that’d be perfect.
